What's New on Good as Gay?

This blog has become amazing in the last couple of months. It has changed my entire outlook on life! Much of this has to do with all of you who continue to comment and ask questions and send me links to other bloggers and keep me informed on issues. Thank you so much!!! Thank you OUTlook for playing such a large part of who I am today as well. I am so happy that I have 250 page views a day!!! Whether this increases or not in the future is really not up to me alone. It is really up to those reading. Everyone who shares a post and talks about the blog content or a guest poster makes my day! Thanks for continuing to share me with others on Twitter, Facebook, Mysapce, Tumblr, and all of the other social networking sites.

Friends and Increasing Traffic - This is a pivotal point for me for a couple of reason. I know at this point all of the readers of Good as Gay will continue to grow my blog. The only thing I really provide is content. The rest of the work is up to the blog buddies, internet friends, friends I know in person, and the couple of family members who have started reading this blog as well. If you keep sharing this blog and its content, it will continue to grow in numbers and credibility!

Secondly, this growth is important because I have decided to write creative non-fiction as it is my strongest writing form. Over the summer I will be ditching the journal - memoir and developing a more story like creative non-fiction piece that illustrates the emotions I convey in the journal entries. You will still have complete access to the journals and I will put them together as a free E-Book once I learn how to do that this summer. My creative non-fiction will sell through an E-store I plan on creating this summer through CreateSpace. (I also want to learn how to creatively manipulate html!) I am very excited. Instead of having an About the Book Section in the tabs, I will have the E-Store tab that will accumulate works that I have written! Very cool stuff!

LGBT Resources Page - Other endeavors include adding more information to the lgbt resource section. Having suicide hotlines like the Trevor Project and other options in that section is a must! This blog will begin to function more like a web page than a blog which is a fantastic advantage of using blogger. Though I may switch to wordpress later. (Digression!) More in the lgbt resource section will contain research and opinion articles from Helium's lgbt database. Some articles will have by written by myself and some written by others from Helium's site! I am very excited to develop this. I will also be adding book reviews and website reviews looking at lgbt books and websites (No Shit Sherlock!). These will be very systematic in nature but will still contain the quality and vigor necessary to articulate the information about various books and websites I have read and used. I will being using shvoong.com to write these!!! It will be an excellent resource to find the books that you may not have read in the lgbt niche! David Sedaris and Augusten Burroughs are amazing but there is so much more out there!!! Plus you might find that dating site that has the one!

YouTube -  There are two things going on with YouTube endeavors. The first is Queers With Cameras! It has finally been launched and we are doing really well for our first week! Here is today's video. I will be Thursdays videos!!! It is an international collaboration with participants from Germany, the UK, America, and Rea, as you will hear below, the Middle East! This collaboration will hopefully develop into something larger than life. I feel it already has.

The second thing is the Good as Gay YouTube series. I am not really sure what I am doing with it yet. But I hope to soon be looking at more articles and information in regards to lgbt issues and blowing holes in bigot's  credibility when necessary. I want it to incorporate critical thinking skills and apply those skills to looking at issues in the lgbt niche. Rush Limbaugh and Tony Perkins here I come!

Formspring - I am contemplating getting a formspring account. I rarely get questions in e mails nor do I receive questions on Tumblr. Blogging is about building community and the best way to build a community is to have a way people can ask questions. Some questions will be used for blog posts or YouTube videos. I have seen this work well for people asking as well as other bloggers. Before I can decide to add this feature to the blog please vote in the upper left hand corner if you would like me to get a formspring! You have four more days to vote!!!

Good as Gay the Blog - Lastly is the blog. My blogging really did start with my journal entries on Myspace. But now Good as Gay is much larger and more complicated than just a couple of emotional journal entries tracking my coming out story. It incorporates guest posts from all walks of life and I often write about sociological related topics. Rarely do I involve or enjoy writing emotional inspirational posts for this blog. I love talking about science, specifically the social sciences! Occasionally the hard sciences as well. I find sociology interesting as I do politics, economics, geography, culture, religion, psychology, and much more. These all fall under the umbrella of social sciences. I am studying Psychology which is a social science and I also am considering minoring in Mass Communications. That is the essence of blogging and social networking now! This approach to Good as Gay would be a perfect fit for me!

I don't find myself challenged enough by writing about psychology alone or sociology alone, or religion alone. I like all the topics and shit, I am good at writing. I might suck at grammar but I can improve on that! I like a challenge and I love to learn. This will surely broaden the topic range I can write and learn about and it broadens the range of who is able to guest post. As opposed to just featuring gay erotica writers, I can include that on a Saturday and play it safe on a weekday with a political analyst who just wrote a book on sexuality and politics! This is the freedom I need to write. I hate boxes!

Finally - I hope you are able to keep up with me. Sometimes I can't keep up with myself. But I figure think big. If things go wrong, I can manipulate from there! Thanks you so much for reading. I look forward to your comments in the future! Keep it intelligent and humorous! Chow!

What do you hate about formspring?

If you had any idea how much cyberbullying goes on there with kids, you'd agree that it ought to be shut down. It makes FB and MS and all the other social networking sites look like heaven. We deal with it all the time at work (in a public school system). The administrators are constantly trying to track down who left horrible comments to others -which is nigh onto impossible since you can leave things anonymously. If people aren't willing to ask a question, even anonymously, on a blog, who do you think is going to be attracted to something like Formspring? Only the pervs. Or the plain ol' idiots. Or the ones who can only ask something completely mindless and pointless. Sorry, I just don't see anything useful about it. It just adds to the clutter. (Enough of an earful? ;-))

Those are some valid points for sure!!! If I were using it I wouldn't answer the perverted questions and rude questions. I would just answer the valuable ones. I could definitely see the issue with it when there are younger kids using it. There is no censorship or regulation of the internet. It is a poltergeist of pornography and bullying! Yikes!
